In the late 1800s and early 1900s, this was not the case. Business and factory owners exploited factory workers with long work hours, low wages, and very dangerous working conditions. To best simulate the life of worker during an industrial revolution, the 8th graders participated in an Assembly Line simulation. The purpose was for their team of workers to produce the most "products" (a cartoon drawing) during the "work day" (30 minutes). This might sound like an easier task, but little did they know that their teachers were going to become factory bosses, and the conditions would be loud and distracting.
