This week the students performed their choreographed dance routines in PE. Students were able to choose their own groups and selected a song of their choice to create a dance to. Each group was graded on dance steps, whether the steps matched the music, and creativity. Check out the videos below and follow the link to view a snapshot of more videos!

This week in Life Skills the 7th graders made Taco Pizza and S'more Cupcakes. The 8th graders made Key Lime Bars and German Chocolate Cake. Each student was responsible for a different task within the kitchen. The 7th graders were able to customize their pizza with the toppings of their choosing. Mrs. Wagner grades the students on cooperation, proper recipe following, and clean-up. The small groups of students worked well together to create delicious dishes!
Student Council, supervised by Mrs. Adamski and Mrs. Ryan, hosted the annual Fairview Bunkerball Tournament last Friday. It started off with a pizza party followed by a Double Elimination Tournament. Students played as many games as possible in a twelve-minute period and each losing team had a second chance to make it the finals. Team Red Six faced off against the Vicious Puppies in the final game, which took place in the big gym. Team Red Six tied up the score with two minutes to go on the clock, but ultimately, The Vicious Puppies took home the championship!
On December 7, the Fairview Orchestra and Choir had their day concert for the entire middle school. The 7th and 8th grade portion of the concert started off with the choir singing, "Dust in the Wind" and "Firework" by Katy Perry. The Orchestra, lead by Ms. Messino, followed harmoniously with Nightrider, Conquistador!, Appalachian Sunrise, and Dog Dreams. On December 14, the Concert Band and Jazz Band had their opportunity to showcase their talents with an afternoon concert. Mr. Conner lead the Jazz Band in "25 or 6 to 4" and "Kool Bean." The Concert band shined with Adler Creek Tribute, The Emerald Isle, Canto, and Flurry for Winds and Percussion. The 7th graders were reviewing rational numbers and were given a challenge: Be the first team to correctly put the 20 different rational numbers in order from least to greatest! They did a great job working together to discuss, organize, and think through the problem to be able to successfully complete the challenge!
On Thursday, the 8th graders dissected a sheep eye in Mrs. Che’s class! In each period, 3-4 four students completed the lab ahead of time and performed as lab assistants to the entire class. The assistants walked around and helped their classmates with the lab. Each pair of students was responsible for identifying the retina, optic nerve, iris, lens, vitreous humor, tapteum, sclera, and cornea of the eye. As the students took apart the eye, they placed each portion of it on a grid sheet to be checked off by Mrs. Che at the end of the period.
