Fairview hosted a Track-a-Thon Fundraiser as part of a K-8 Connectedness Activity! Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade walked with their buddy classes to raise money to benefit the Ocean Sole organization.
Ocean Sole is a non-profit organization that turns discarded flip flops into beautiful pieces of artwork. Their mission is to clean up polluted beaches and provide careers to local artisans. The 7th grade students participated in Snowflake, which was held at Fairview and sponsored by the PTA. Snowflake is a full day event with activities that include the topics of empathy, kindness, self-esteem, anti-bullying, including others, teamwork, and much more! Snowflake 2023 was a huge success. Students learned a lot about themselves and others, while having fun in the process! Thank you to all the teachers and students who made this day special for the 7th graders! "Summer reading is critical, not only for helping kids maintain learning while school is out, but also for fostering social-emotional development, discovering the joy of stories, and elevating the importance of lifelong learning." ~Scholastic

We wish the graduates all the best in high school and beyond! The 7th grade students enjoyed a fun morning at Laramie Park! They tie-dyed masks, played softball, and hung out! In the afternoon, the students ate donuts from Stans and watched movies, played board games, competed in trivia, and had a chess tournament. Tomorrow will be their last day as 7th graders!
What an AMAZING evening celebrating the class of 2021!!!! The district hosted a "Drive-In Graduation" to commemorate the 8th grade graduating class. The PTA and teachers passed out treats and each graduate walked across a stage to receive their diploma before snapping a picture with Mr. Lopatka. Graduate cars gathered in the parking lot to watch the ceremony on the BIG screen! Enjoy the pictures from the event! We wish the Class of 2021 the best of luck in high school and beyond!!!! The dance may have been rained out last Friday, but that didn't stop this group from celebrating!!! The Class of 2021 enjoyed a BBQ lunch from the district as well as a DJ, photo booth, and bean bag toss from the PTA. One more day until GRADUATION!!!!
Summer reading helps students keep their skills sharp so they are ready when school begins again in the fall. Reading throughout the summer not only enhances basic reading skills, it creates unique opportunities for learning, exploring, and growing! Click on the link below for grade-level book lists and assignments. Let's get reading!!! https://fairviewsummerreading2021.weebly.com/This month we will be celebrating our 8th grade graduates! We wish you all the best of luck in high school and beyond! To kick of the month, teachers delivered graduation signs to students lawns. Then the graduates played mini golf and enjoyed a picnic lunch from Little Louie's! Check back soon to see pictures from all of the events!!!! "When we show up, act boldly, and practice the best ways to be wrong, we fail forward. No matter where we end up, we’ve grown from where we began." - Stacey Abrams There were eleven 8th grade students who applied for the annual Louis M. Blumenfeld Triumph of the Spirit Leadership Award this year! This annual award is in memory of Louis Blumenfeld, a student who tragically passed away in 2006. Louis left an imprint on every facet of Fairview South student life, he was a leader amongst his peers, empathetic towards others, rose above peer issues that face middle school students, and was a friend to all. These are all characteristics that we strive to instill in our students. Fairview South Middle School is dedicated to making reading and writing top priorities for our students. It is important for you to “read and write all summer long” by participating in the Summer Reading Program. Click the link below to select a book and get started! You can also access the site from the "Summer Reading" tab above or clicking below. We would like to give a big congratulations to Danica Calalang! |
